Batteries and a Connect button the moment the lid opens, or AirPods Max leave their Smart Case.

Noise control in the menu bar

Off, Transparency, Adaptive and Noise Cancellation, one click away.

Volume up to 200%

For the quiet call and the quieter video.

And the small things.

Sleep timer

Pauses your music after 15 to 90 minutes, so you can fall asleep with them in.

A limit for your ears

AirPods never go above the level you choose, whatever turns them up.

Know when it's charged

The panel tells you when the case will be full.

A battery widget

Your AirPods' batteries on the desktop or in Notification Center.

Back in the case

Put one AirPod away and a small card says which, then gets out of your way.

Output and microphone

Pick where the sound goes, and what listens, right from the panel.

Low battery alerts

A heads-up before they run out, not after.

Hot keys and Shortcuts

Change the noise mode without the mouse. AppleScript works too.

Glass to match

Liquid Glass, frosted, tinted or solid, for the card and the panel.

Questions

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later, and a pair of AirPods. Volume above 100% needs macOS 14.2 or later.

Why does macOS warn me when I open it?

AirPane isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first time. It takes a minute: here's how to open it.

What happens when the beta ends?

AirPane becomes a paid app. Every beta copy pauses on the same day for everyone (reinstalling doesn't reset it) and points you to this site. Your settings are kept.

Is it free?

Yes, during the beta. After that it's planned to be a one-time purchase of $4.99, never a subscription.

Does it work with Beats or other headphones?

Not yet. AirPane is made for AirPods for now, and support for other headphones may come later.

I have more than one pair. Does that work?

Yes. With two or more pairs, the panel shows a chip for each with its battery, and one click switches between them.

What if my AirPods are with my iPhone, or lost?

The panel shows when they were last seen and a Connect to this Mac button that works within Bluetooth range. When they've gone quiet, a Find My button is right there too. AirPane never shares their location.

Is the volume boost safe?

Listening above 100% can damage your hearing. AirPane warns you when boost is on and reminds you after 20 minutes of boosted listening. Boost turns itself off when you change the output, disconnect or put the Mac to sleep.

No tracking, ever. Not notarized by Apple yet. Here's how to open it →
